Karen S. Ellinwood, 84, of Lima, Ohio passed away on Dec. 1, 2024. She was born Oct. 4, 1940, to Henry and Olga (Hagen) Saylers in Billings, Montana. On June 14, 1959, Karen married Darlynd Ellinwood.
Karen attended Radford Private High School in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Meeteetse High School in Wyoming. She attended the University of Wyoming and Bowling Green State University. Karen was an active, involved member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Napoleon, Ohio, and in earlier years St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Meeteetse, Wyoming, where she was a Lay Eucharistic Visitor and held numerous church offices.
She was a professional volunteer throughout her life, especially at school for her children's classes. Karen was involved in numerous volunteer organizations including a leader in Boy Scouts, 4-H adviser, Sunday School teacher and a member of Phi Gamma Nu, National Honor Society. Karen also was a member of Farm Bureau, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer and a member of Eastern Star Chapter #670 in Fulton County. Karen was also a member of the Republican Women's Group and worked as an election poll worker for years.
Karen was a homemaker and partner in the family farming business. She was a truly devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were a true delight. Karen's interests included family, friends, traveling, playing bridge, entertaining, church involvement and bowling in her earlier years.
Karen is survived by her children, Darrel (Pam Johnston) Ellinwood, Daniel (Kathy) Ellinwood, and Shelly (Thomas) Mazur; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darlynd.
Funeral services will be at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Meeteetse, WY on Saturday June 21, 2025 at 11am.
