Karen Elaine Garceau

Karen Elaine Garceau, age 75 of Portland passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 at her home. She was born January 11, 1949 in Gouverneur, NY to Preston and Elaine Backus Morrissiey. She was self-employed as a house cleaner before her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, photography, crocheting, cooking and baking and chatting with her Facebook friends. She loved spending time with her family most of all,. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Johnny Morrissiey; sister, Marlene Hitchman. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Garceau, Portland, TN; sons, Joseph (Lloyd) Smith, Portland, TN, William (Lisa) Smith, Franklin, KY and Ronald (Dorothy) Smith, PA; brother, Michael (Mary) Morrissiey, Gouverneur, NY; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. There are no services or visitation planned. Mrs. Garceau's ashes will be interred at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Gouverneur, NY at a later date.
