In Loving Memory of Karen "Nanny" Gonzales
November 15, 1946 – May 7, 2025
Karen Gonzales, lovingly known to many as "Nanny," passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, in Greenville, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on November 15, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, Karen lived a life full of love, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Gonzales; her daughters, Cinthany and Stephany Gonzales; her brother, Raymond "Skipper" Burton; and her dear mother, Dollie "Dot" Brown. She is survived by her sister, Stacy Marshall; her daughter, Tiffany Wylie; her cherished grandchildren-Sydney Scott, Courtney Riley, Kaylea Edwards, and Jonathan Scott-and seven great-grandchildren, one even being named in honor of her love for Elvis Presley. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
A dedicated employee of Texas Instruments, Karen worked with integrity and commitment. But it was at home, surrounded by those she loved, where she truly shined. Family was everything to her-she found joy in every moment spent with them, whether dancing in the kitchen to her jukebox, hosting family gatherings, or watching Elvis movies with her granddaughters.
Karen's love for Elvis was legendary-reflected in the one-of-a-kind Elvis room she created in her home and the warmth of his music that filled her life and memories. She and her husband Tony shared a passion for car shows and built a home filled with love, laughter, and timeless traditions.
A proud member of Calvary East Baptist Church, where Tony served as a Deacon, Karen lived her faith through kindness, generosity, and an open heart. She never met a stranger, never held hatred in her heart, and lived each day with strength, courage, and compassion. She was selfless, loving, and unfailingly kind-an anchor for her family and a friend to all who knew her.
Karen's life will be celebrated on Friday, May 23rd at 12:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Home, 12973 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Garland, TX 75041. She will be laid to rest at Grove Hill Cemetery, reunited with her beloved husband, daughters, and mother.
In lieu of donations, the family would be deeply grateful for flowers sent in her honor, or direct contributions to assist with arrangements.
If flowers are being sent, please have them delivered by Thursday, May 22, 2025, before 5:00 p.m. CST. Deliveries can be addressed for Karen Gonzales and sent to Eastgate Funeral Home, 12973 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Garland, TX 75041.
Karen "Nanny" Gonzales was truly one of a kind. Her memory lives on in every laugh shared, every Elvis song played, and every moment of joy in the lives she touched.
