Karen Jean Hooper, age 71, of Ft. Oglethorpe, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. She was born February 11, 1954, to the late Martha Hixson and Bill Gattis.
Karen was an LPN for several years, working most recently at the Catoosa County Jail for 21 years. She had a love for crafts and sewing, also enjoyed spending time working in her yard, gardening and tending to her flowers.
Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Carlton Hooper, her husband of 48 years; children, Ben Cothran and Wendy Woodlee; grandchildren, Hailey Stewart and Will Cothran and great-granddaughter, Luna Johnston.
Also survived by her brother, David (Dimple) Gattis; sisters, Gail (Pete) Holmes and Eva Smith; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Karen will be held at 1:30 PM on November 2, 2025, at the Battlefield Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jo Brown presiding.
