Karen Jan Patton Hawks Obituary

Karen was born in Beckley, WV, on October 13, 1956, to Warren and Jean Patton; and is survived by her older siblings Dean (wife Deanna), Ross (wife Linda), and Dwayne (wife Betsy), along with several nieces and nephews.
As a child, her family moved to Huntington, WV. She graduated from Barboursville High School, went to Marshall University for two years, then graduated from Grace College Indiana in 1979 with a Mathematics degree.
After being employed at U.S. Steel in Gary, WV, she met her future husband Norman. They were married on July 17, 1982; and afterwards had three children.
The family moved to Dublin, VA, in 1989, where she focused on raising a loving Christian family. She later became a teacher's aide at Critzer Elementary and Pulaski Elementary, and eventually a case manager at NRVCS.
Later in life, she developed a passion for fishing; and her greatest joy was being "Gram'' to her three wonderful grandchildren. Karen was a dedicated wife to Norman for nearly 42 years before her passing, and their love blossomed until the very end.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will follow with Pastor Timothy Worles officiating.
The Hawks family would like to give special thanks to Commonwealth Senior Living of Radford, Pulaski Health & Rehabilitation Center, and Medi Home Health & Hospice in Pulaski. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Radford, VA, in-person or online at cbcradford.com.
