Karen S. (Lewis) Hinton, 83, of Frankfort passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born to Franklin E. and Dorothy P. (Cory) Lewis on August 19, 1942, in Boone County, Indiana. On August 30, 1959, she married Jimmy Hinton and he survives.
Karen attended Lebanon High School. She worked at Peter Paul Candy Factory and Frankfort Senior High School in the cafeteria. Karen formerly attended Hope United Brethren Church and The First Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Clinton County Eastern Star as well as the Eagles Lodge. Karen loved to craft and enjoyed any hobby that involved being creative like painting and sewing. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and would never let you leave her house hungry. Karen and Jim were recently baptized in September at the First Church of the Nazarene, solidifying their love for the lord. Above all Karen took pride in her family and was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, children, Jimmy (Tammy) Hinton Jr. and Cheryl Carney: Grandchildren, Jeremy (Deb) Baker, Shannon (Daniel) Cruz, Brittney (Nathan) Pritzer, Amanda Hinton, Jimmy Lee (Amy) Hinton, Jennifer Hinton, Kevin Hinton, Tommy Hinton, Brandon Hinton, Melissa Montgomery, Crystal Montgomery, Joey (Tiana) Montgomery, Jackie Carney, and Taren (Travis) Carney: 33 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Regina Brittain: son-in-law, Edward “Ed” Carney: 1 sister and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Day & Genda Funeral Home from 2 pm until 4 pm. Visitation also will be held the following day Monday, November 10, 2025 at 12:30 pm with the funeral service at 1:30 pm. Pastor Gordon Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen's honor to the Boys and Girls Club.
