Karen Lingenfelter Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 23, 2025.
Karen Jean Lingenfelter, age 70, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Lingenfelter was born September 30, 1954 in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Robert Donald and Dorothy Imogene Long (Elfers).

Karen found so much joy in serving her Savior and loving her family. She loved life and looked forward to every moment we could be together. She would often remind us of how many more days until that next visit. Some of her favorite things include the color blue, collecting spoons from different places, working puzzles, and decorating especially for Christmas. She definitely had the gift of hospitality. She loved feeding, cooking, and baking for anyone that would accept it. Her fried tacos were on the top of the list and her seven-layer salad (with sugar and not salt!) was close behind. Karen loved to shop! Her favorite stores were flea markets, Hobby Lobby, and of course Walmart. She liked pretty things! She would often come home with something else to spoil the grandkids with. Most importantly, she loved Jesus and showed His love to everyone. She most certainly heard the words we all long to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

On December 22, 1973, she married Randy Lingenfelter. He survives. Also surviving are two children: Sherry (Josh) Peterson of Oklahoma City, OK and Shawn (Chyann) Lingenfelter of Midwest City, OK; nine grandchildren; four sisters: Carol (Otis) Hunter of Wappapello, MO, Paulette Willeford of Houston, TX, Glenda Walton and Vickie (Rick) Heuring, both of Cape Girardeau, MO; and one brother: Steven Rice of Fisk, MO. In addition to her parents, Karen was also preceded in death by one sister: Dorothy "Dottie" Pickens.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Northpoint Nazarene Church in Poplar Bluff. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Randy Lingenfelter and Rev. Greg Gilberto officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to Northpoint Nazarene Church: 4168 Highway 67 N Poplar Bluff, MO 63901 Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome.com

Karen seemed to have a smile any time one was needed. She was a lovely lady. Our family, in-laws and out-laws, treasured our time with her. She is with her Savior but she will be missed.
