A celebration of life will be held for Karen Marie Lyons, 48, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation for anyone wishing to pay their respects will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.

The family will be having a private memorial service for close friends and family from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Officiating the service will be Father Fidel Mondragon and Monsignor Earl Provenza.

Karen was born on May 23, 1976, to Marie Magdalene Modica in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Bossier Parish, where she met the love of her life, Mark Lyons. Karen and Mark shared 31 wonderful years together. They recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. Together they had three children, Kayla, Caden, and Cason, and two granddaughters, Lylah and Mayleigh.

Karen passed away peacefully at 12:15 am on Easter Sunday in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Karen served at Asbury Ark Academy and as a substitute teacher in Bossier for over 20 years combined. During that time, she formed deep connections with the teachers and students she worked with. She loved working with children, and she cared for each student as if they were her own child.

Karen’s life was filled with love, kindness, and selfless generosity. She had a gift for making people laugh and bringing happiness to others. Her presence could brighten any room. She was the “life of the party” everywhere she went. With a spirit as radiant as her smile, she was, in every sense, larger than life.

Karen was a loving wife and mother. She cherished her family, especially her granddaughters and her three standard poodles.

Karen had a wild and adventurous spirit. She found great joy in taking family trips to the Little Missouri River in Arkansas. This peaceful destination held a special place in her heart, where she and her family made countless unforgettable memories together.

Karen will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew her. Her warmth, love, and light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.

Karen was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Lena Modica, and her beloved fur babies, Holly, Molly, Ellie, and Chevy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Lyons; mother, Marie Magdalene Modica; daughter, Kayla Smith and husband, Joey; sons, Caden Lyons, and significant other, Kendall Reynolds and Cason Lyons; brother, Anthony and wife, Kim; her beautiful granddaughters, Lylah and Mayleigh Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved standard poodles, Meadow, Winnie, and Bianca.

The family requests memorials be made to Nova’s Heart Animal Support Services, 762 Austen Place, Shreveport, Louisiana 71101, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org
