Obituary of Karen (Kirch) McCune
Karen (Kirch) McCune of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 11, 2024. Karen was born on January 12, 1957, in Rome, NY, to Charles and Ruth Kirch and grew up in her hometown of Camden, NY. Karen attended SUNY Morrisville and graduated from Crouse-Irving Memorial College as a registered nurse. She moved to Stony Point, NY, where she raised her two sons. Karen donated her life to helping others as a nurse in Westchester Medical, Columbia Hospital, and ARC of Rockland. Karen loved to cook and spend time with friends and family, but her greatest joy came from her five grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Karen is survived by her two sons, Michael (Vittoria Adams) and Andrew (Catherine Hoffman) McCune; five grandchildren Barrett, Ryleigh, Callie, Kasen, and Kinsley; her sisters Ruth Wratten, Grace Kirch-Johnson and Karol Leuzarder. Karen is predeceased by her parents, daughter Meredith (1989), and sister Christine. The family will receive friends at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 Central Hwy., Garnerville, NY, on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arc Rockland Foundation (https://arcofrockland.org/make-a-donation/).

Karen was a special lady. She was tireless in helping others. She adored children and loved every single one. She was a generous presence in the lives of the friends and team mates of her sons - and everyone else she encountered. Karen had a big laugh that made the day better. RIP Karen and condolences to her family and loved ones.

I had the privelage of working with Karen at ARC. She would brighten up your worst day and leave you with a smile on your face. I am grateful to have been able to call her my friend.

Karen was an incredible co-worker, fun to be with. Never heard her say a bad word about anybody. She was kinder than necessary. Rest in peace, friend. Barbara Enright
