CANTON, NY – A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen E. Mousaw, age 71, of 122 Miner Street, Canton, will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Canton, with Rev. Bryan Stitt presiding. As per Karen's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Karen passed away peacefully at her home on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Karen is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Jon Mousaw; her three children, John and Megan Mousaw, Joseph and Mandie Mousaw, and Amanda and Eli White, all of Canton; and her beloved eight grandchildren, Vanessa, Ayden, Emma, Kendall, Mia, Ella, Olivia, and Elle, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Ellen (Ted Wisner), John Smith, Jim (Linda) Smith, Joan (Ray Young), Patti (Chip Streit), Debbie (Brian Todd), Sandy (Rick Johnston), and Peter (Sondra) Smith. She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd T. and Betty D. Trippany Smith, and her sister-in-law, Sheryl Smith.

Karen was born in Massena, New York on March 31, 1954. She graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1972, and married Jon D. Mousaw on August 19, 1977. Karen retired from the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad, where she served as an Administrative Assistant and EMT. She previously worked for several years as Deputy Town Supervisor for the Town of Canton. Above all else, Karen cherished time with her family. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and dance and was happiest when everyone was gathered together. Karen was also known as an amazing cook who showed her love through food, care, and constant generosity. Memorial contributions in Karen's memory may be made to the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com. The Buck Funeral Home in Norwood is serving the family of Karen E. Mousaw.
