Karen Kae Keller Rapp

Karen Kae Keller Rapp passed away at 60 years of age following a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was in her home, surrounded by her family when she passed. Karen was born on October 11, 1964 in Tremonton, Utah to Jay Maurice Keller and Marianna Eliason Keller. Her family moved to Brigham City when she was quite young. She lived in Brigham City most of her life. She did spend 2 years in Texas while her husband finished his schooling.

Karen was a devoted and deeply loved wife, mother and grandmother. In the fall of 1984, she met her future husband at a softball game. On June 6th, 1985, she married Stephan Randolph (Randy) Rapp in the Logan LDS temple. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this past June. They were still deeply in love at the time of her passing.

She is mother to 4 children: Kevin (Amanda) Rapp of Wake Forest North Carolina, Nathan (Nikole) Rapp of Brigham City, Kaylee (Kyle) Prigmore of Brigham City and Ryan Rapp of Logan. She has 7 grandchildren: Eli, Daniel, and Leona (deceased) Rapp of North Carolina, Lauren, Jonah, Caleb and Malcolm Rapp of Brigham City. She has two grandchildren on the way.

She has 2 wonderful sisters: Maurine Quayle and Susan Obray and a great brother, Steve Keller, who have all supported her during her illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marianna Keller and a granddaughter, Leona Rapp. She is survived by her father, Jay Maurice Keller.

Karen loved and treasured her family. She looked forward to time spent with them camping, playing card games, hiking or just hanging out. One of her greatest concerns when she knew that her time on earth was limited was that she would not be able to be with her children and present and future grandchildren as they grew and reached milestones in life.

Karen was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She was a great example to her family of loving service to friends and neighbors, whatever religious denomination they favored. She served as a girl’s camp director for many years, as a young women's organization president. She was a teenager at heart and was completely at home with the young women. She provided a “real camping” experience at the girls camps she led. She also served as a Relief Society President and in many other church callings.

Karen loved the outdoors, a love fostered by her father, Jay at a young age. She spent time camping (usually tent camping), bicycling (often with her husband Randy), hiking, and cooking dutch oven (she was well known for her dutch oven dinners at girl’s camp and on family camping trips).

Karen loved to play softball, volleyball, pickleball or any other sport available. She rarely missed watching a soccer, basketball, or lacrosse game, or any other event that her children or grandchildren were participating in.

Karen loved music, played the piano a little and hoped to learn to play the guitar that she was given years ago, but could never find the time to fit it into her full life. She loved to garden and worked for many years at Willard Bay Gardens, forming many friendships there

She loved her mother and father deeply and spent many hours caring for them in their later years. Recently she enjoyed taking her father for long drives.

Karen’s passing came too early and will leave an unfillable hole in the hearts of her family and so many others. Our only consolation is knowing that our separation is only temporary and that because of the life that she led and the sacrifice of our savior we will be together again if we live our lives as we should.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27th at 12 noon. There will be a viewing from 10:00am to 11:30 am. All services will be held at the LDS Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 N 300 E in Brigham City. Interment will be in Brigham City Cemetery.
