Karen Feldmann Schlageter, 68, widow of the late David Schlageter, died on Monday, October 13, 2025, at her home in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Born on November 9, 1956, in Albany, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Walter "Hank" Feldmann and the late Nancy "Nanny" Lindsay Feldmann. Karen's infectious sense of humor was a gift to all who knew her, ensuring that laughter was a constant presence in the lives of her friends and family. Her love for cooking was renowned, and her table was always open to anyone in need of a meal or a friend. A very kind person by nature, Karen's selflessness was evident in the way she lived her life. She had an open-door policy, and many can attest to the refuge and solace they found within her walls. Karen cherished her trips to the beach and the mountains with her sons, reveling in the beauty of nature and the company of her beloved family. Despite her love for travel, Karen was a true homebody at heart. She took great pride in the space she had created; a testament to her love for her family and her knack for making any environment warm and inviting. As we bid farewell to Karen Feldmann Schlageter, we celebrate a life lived with an open heart and an open door. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Feldmann, and brother-in-law, Blair Pritchett.
Survivors include her sons, Eric Schlageter and Brian Schlageter; sisters, Jenny Pritchett, and Laura Gaines; nieces and nephews, Jason Long, Kelly Conley, Mark Gaines, Lindsay Gaines, Brittany Childs, and Ansley Pritchett; great nieces and nephews, Ryan Conley, Lucy Long, Mallory Long, Belle Childs, and Abigail Hilton.
The family will hold a private service.
