In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul, of Helmer, Indiana, as well as his two brothers and his sister.
Richard graduated from New Castle High School in Indiana. He enjoyed cars and electronics, and had a love for carpentry as well as all things mechanical. He was the ultimate handyman who used his self-taught skills to help anyone. He was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting and taking art classes. He was a devoted loving husband and father. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always taking the time to listen, teach, and encourage each and every one. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, putting others before himself, with a generosity that touched countless lives. He had a deep and unwavering love for the Lord that was evident to everyone who knew him. His faith was not only spoken but lived out daily through his kindness, humility and devotion. He lived a life of faithful service, always seeking to honor God in all that he did. Guided by the Word, he built his life upon the teachings of the Bible and set an example of integrity, compassion and faith for all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by Phyllis, his loving wife of 36 years; daughter Diane Armstrong of Angola, Indiana; Phyllis' daughters Dawn Rose (Jon Black), Nikki (Roy) Whitaker and Kim Albea all of Cedartown, Georgia, whom he loved as his own; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
