Karen Simeone Obituary
Karen A. Simeone, age 71, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the SECU Hospice LifeCare Center in Bolivia, North Carolina. Karen was born on June 15, 1954, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Raised in the Episcopal faith, she later embraced the Catholic faith. Karen lived a life full of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Karen retired from New Hanover Medical Group after more than 20 years of dedicated service in the Medical Practice Administrative offices. Her commitment to her work and her colleagues was a testament to her character and work ethic.
Karen was a woman of varied interests. She found great joy in reading, tending to her flowers, saltwater fishing, and always finding the best deals on shoes for herself and clothes for her grandchildren. Karen cherished the countless memories made during visits with family in Charlestown, Rhode Island; Fort Myers, Florida; and Sanibel Island, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents: George Henry Avery, Sr. and Dorothy Clair Sanderson Avery; siblings: Dorothy Clapp, Jackie Kuban, George Avery Jr., and her twin sister Sharon Woodward. Their memories were ever close to her heart.
Karen leaves behind her devoted husband of 44 years, Paul Pasquale Simeone. She was the loving mother to three sons: Paul Simeone (Katie) of Simsbury, CT; Kenneth Simeone (Jenelle) of Concord, NC; and Eric Simeone (JD) of Atlanta, GA. She was a proud grandmother to Luciana, Enzo, Gemma, and Hudson, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her special bichapoo puppy dog, "Hazel", who was a constant companion and source of comfort.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the Spring to honor Karen's memory and the impact she had on those around her.

Karen's warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
