Karen Smart Obituary
Karen was born in Jersey City, NJ, where she and Bobby met, married, and moved to Boulder, CO, where he joined the Navy, which brought them to Norfolk in the late 1980's. Karen worked for Bayside Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 2021. When asked, she would tell you that her greatest accomplishment was her family.
Karen is survived by her children, Kyle, Kayla, and DJ Smart, her daughters-in-law, Christina and Jennifer Smart, her grandchildren Elexiah, Cole, Nylah, Stormi, Robbie and Nolan, and her long-time friend and companion, Donald Linhart As well as pretty much everyone in Tarrallton.
Karen was a second mom to all her kids' friends. She was a judgement-free zone, a warm hug, a loving smile, a kind and encouraging word, a voice of truth, a warm meal, and a safe shelter, if needed. She walked in love and laughter, always, and that is what she leaves us: love and laughter, warmth and kindness.
The Smart Family hopes you'll join them Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 6-8pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Dr., Norfolk, to celebrate this amazing woman's life.
