Karen Strader, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with her Lord on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2009. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Church at the Cross, 3000 William D. Tate Ave. in Grapevine. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Memorials: In Karen's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, in care of Church at the Cross, 3000 William. D. Tate Ave., Grapevine, Texas 76051. Karen Strader was born in Commerce Aug. 14, 1941, the daughter of the late R.A. and Evelyn Baker of Denver, Colo. Karen grew up in West Texas and was a graduate of Shallowater High School. Karen was a member of Church at the Cross in Grapevine and her lifelong passion was participating in and supporting international missions, especially to the people of Ukraine. The family would like to express its gratitude to Karen's longtime caregivers, Cathy Dulaney and Jana Marlin, and for the compassionate professionals at Universal Hospice Center in Fort Worth. Survivors: Her husband, Jerry; their children, Kyle Strader of Grapevine, Camille Austin of Saginaw and her husband, Sam, Staci Taylor and her husband, Jeff, of Colleyville; her brother, Ken Baker and his wife, Linda, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Luke and Noah Strader and Samuel, Mary and Ellen Taylor.
