Kari Rae Butler, 65, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming, surrounded by her loved ones.
Kari was born on January 13, 1960, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Myron ("Mike") Brandner and Rae (Sanders) Brandner. Three and a half years later, her beloved sister Niki joined the family.
After graduating from Fargo South High School, Kari attended North Dakota State University, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She cherished the lifelong friendships she formed there, maintaining those bonds throughout her life.
In her early adulthood, Kari's adventurous spirit led her into the travel industry, where she enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people. Later, she was honored to work alongside Dr. Scott and his team in Sheridan, Wyoming. Most recently, she had begun to embrace retirement and found joy in caring for Jim's parents.
Kari found happiness in life's simple pleasures – spoiling her beloved black pussy cat, Remi, curling up with a good book, and spreading love and cheer through her beautiful handmade cards. Her playful sense of humor and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kari is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Jim Roth; stepdaughters Mandy Roth and Tina (Spencer) Kreikemeier; grandchildren Hayden and Hudson Kreikemeier; mother Rae Sanders; sister Niki Richardson; nieces Noelle Brandner and Chantal Brandner; nephew Thomas Brandner; many great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her father, Myron ("Mike") Brandner, cousin Cammie Peters, Marge Roth, and many other beloved family members.
A Celebration of Kari's Life will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M., at Grace Anglican Church, burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the church.
In honor of Kari and her favorite color, guests are encouraged to wear something red.
Donations can be made to the Second Chance Cat Rescue, 1850 Gabrielle Ct., Sheridan, WY or Sheridan County Public Library, 335 W Alger St, Sheridan, WY 82801.
Online condolences may be made to www.sheridanfuneral.com. Arrangements are under the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.
