Karina del Socorro Gonzalez was born to Agustin Gonzalez and Obdulia Martinez on June 27th, 1975, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She passed away at the age of 48 on July 3rd, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois due to an unexpected tragedy.
When Karina was 24, in June of 2000 she moved to the United States after graduating from Escuela De Artes y Oficios Los Infante with a 4 year degree in Fashion Design. She left behind her family and friends to pursue a better future for her upcoming kids.
Her dream of becoming a mother came true when she gave birth to her first child, Jesus Emmanuel Alvarez, on August 26th, 2004. After her struggles with pregnancy in the following 3 years, Karina’s prayers were answered on September 12th, 2007 when she gave birth to her second child named Daniela Alvarez. From their respective births until Karina’s death, she made Jesus’ and Daniela’s happiness a priority before anything else.
Karina would do anything to make sure her children were happy, whether it was going out to eat McDonald’s, going to the park, or shopping at the mall. During her years of raising her children while also working full time, she continued her passion for fashion design, expressing her unconditional love for her children by making them clothes, blankets, and hats.
On personal time her interests and hobbies included watching documentaries about space, cooking and baking, sewing, and fashion design.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustin and Obdulia, and her sister Olga Cristina Gonzalez
Survivors include her son: Jesus Emmanuel Alvarez, brothers: Agustin, Huberto de Jesus and Alfredo of Gonzalez, and sisters: Erika Isabel and Alma Delia of Gonzalez.
Visitation for Karina will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Private Interment. For more information call The Sourek Funeral Home at 708-652-6661.
