Karl Hlava

Karl A. Hlava, 60, of Lagrange and formerly of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2025. He is survived by his siblings Steven Hlava (Pala), Matt Hlava (Juli), and Lorin Szalai (Dennis); nieces and nephews Brianna Hlava (Connor Johnson), Evan Hlava, Dennis Szalai (Gabi), and Kathryn Szalai; great nieces and nephews Essa, Easton, and Deacon Szalai; step-daughter Shannon Sweeney; and step-granddaughter Lola Connor. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Lisa Hlava; his parents Robert and Anita (nee Forcucci) Hlava; sister Jonelle Cillo; step-children Justin Connor, Amanda Paganelli, and Amber Connor; and many other family and friends.
Everyone who knew Karl loved him. His great personality and smile made him the life of the party and an entertainer. He didn't just tell stories; he acted them out and included sound effects and facial expressions.
Karl loved to hang out with family and friends, have a few cold ones, listen to rock-n-roll and play the guitar, even air guitar. He took up guitar in junior high when he was grounded a whole summer and needed something to do. He was never too busy for a jam session. He surely has added some rock-n-roll to the heavenly choir that mom took over directing.
Karl was the best plumber around. If you didn't know him before he entered as your plumber, he made sure he left as your friend. His kindness, friendship and personality will be remembered by everyone who knew and loved him.
Karl's family asks for your attire to match his personality when attending services. Concert, rock band, beer brand t-shirts are encouraged.
