Karl McAllister Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wing Mortuary - Lehi on Jan. 26, 2026.
Karl Wilkinson McAllister, 81, died peacefully on the morning of 23 January 2026. Karl is survived by his 6 children and their spouses: David and Kim McAllister, Benjamin and Jean McAllister, Charles and Andrea McAllister, Adam and JaNae McAllister, Paul and Robyn McAllister, and Heather M. Peterson. Karl is a proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret Ellen Linford McAllister.

Karl Wilkinson McAllister was born on 31 January 1944, as the son of Richard Bernell McAllister Sr and LuZene Wilkinson in Cedar City, Utah. Karl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a deep testimony of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Karl graduated from Granite High School. In the following year he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Belgium France Mission. Here he grew to love the language and the culture.

On 23 March 1966, Karl married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Margaret in the Salt Lake Temple. Karl loved being a husband and father. Karl was known for how much he loved Margaret. Many have mentioned that he passed just in time to join Margaret for their Friday night date night. He loved teaching his kids and being surrounded by his family. In last several years of his life his greatest joy was spending time with his youngest granddaughter. He had a strong testimony in knowing families are eternal and shared what peace it brings knowing he will get to see them again.

From a young age, Karl always had a love for music. Before the age of 12, Karl was asked to be the pianist for his churches priesthood meeting. His love for music continued throughout high school and as he joined the concert band, jazz band, and marching band at the University of Utah. He played the tuba and sousaphone and had fond memories marching in the 24th of July parade. Music was always a central part of Karl's life. As the years went on, Karl became a beloved ward organist and primary pianist.

Karl was always know as a hard worker. He was always looking to make things function better. He spent 30 years working as a copy machine technician for Xerox. Karl loved to serve others. His neighbors knew him for his kindness and service towards them.

Karl was loved by all that knew him. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held Saturday 31 January 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3180 North 300 West, Lehi, Utah. Viewing will be that morning from 10:30am-11:30am. Then funeral services will be held at 12:00pm. Interment will be held in the Lehi City Cemetery.

I had the privilege of serving Karl and Margaret for several years as one of their Home Teachers. They were both admired for their spiritual natures and musical talents. After being released from that calling, Karl and I became HT companions. What a great example he has always been to me and so many others.
While moving on from mortality is bittersweet for loved ones, I am so happy for Margaret and Karl's joyous reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with all their posterity.
Warm Regards
