In Loving Memory of Karla Blankenship
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Karla Nell Blankenship. A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother left this world on December 12, 2023. She is preceded in death by her father, Avery Edgemon, her mother, Fay Nell Edgemon, and her brother, JD Edgemon. Karla is survived by her loving husband, William Blankenship.
Karla was born in
Grand Prairie, Texas and raised in north Fort Worth. While attending Technical High School, she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Blankenship. On October 7, 1950, they married and embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship. Together, they forged a beautiful life filled with joy, love, and shared accomplishments.
She was a dedicated housewife and mother, who invested her time and passion in the education and well-being of children in the community as a lifetime member of the Parent-Teacher Association. Additionally, she played an integral role in managing the office for the family plumbing business, showcasing her strength of character.
A staunch supporter of democratic values, Karla served as the Vice-President of the Hood County Democrats, leaving an indelible mark on the political landscape of her community. Her commitment to civic engagement and social responsibility has inspired many, and will continue to resonate for generations to come.
Karla Blankenship is survived by her cherished children Rik Blankenship (wife Anna), Freda Sims, and Karla Jo Gee (wife Norma Featherston), as well as her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each generation bears witness to her enduring legacy of love, strength, and unwavering support.
Grandchildren: Niki Muñoz (husband Joe Muñoz), Oliver Blankenship (fiance Kara Phillips), Tiffany Todd-Johnson (husband Brian Johnson), Nathaniel Sims (wife Pam Tyner), Joshua Sims (wife Courtney Sims), Will Gee (wife Julia Gee), Reina Hernadez (husband Antonio Hernandez).
Great-Grandchildren: Joey Muñoz and Nico Muñoz; Phoenix Sims; Caleb Sims (wife Emma Sims), Abigail Sims, and Phoebe Sims; William Gee Hernandez, Mariah Hernandez, and Nathan Hernandez.
The family invites friends and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life of Mrs. Karla Blankenship at the memorial service to be held on Saturday, December 16th at Wiley Glen Rose Funeral Home. Visitation at 1:00 P.M. and service to follow at 2:00 P.M. Pallbearers Joe Muñoz, Joey Muñoz, Nico Muñoz, Oliver Blankenship, Nathaniel Sims, Joshua Sims, Caleb Sims, Will Gee, William Gee Hernandez, and Nathan Hernandez will carry her to her final resting place.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
