Karla Kay Hasche was born on January 12, 1959 in Rock Rapids, IA to parents Ronald and Betty (Langfeldt). Karla grew up in Rock Rapids and attended Central Lyon High School where she was a 1978 graduate. After High School Karla attended Nettleton Business School in Sioux Falls, SD, where she attained her degree in Business. Banking was her chosen field for a time until moving into insurance and UPS. Ultimately she returned to banking where her last job title was Trust Operations Officer.
Karla was united in marriage to James Zeck on October 25, 2014 in Brookings, SD. The couple always joked about their honeymoon spent at the Jackrabbit vs. Youngstown State football game. The couple lived in Sioux Falls where Karla enjoyed gardening (especially Calla Lillies) and vegetables that she would generously share with family and friends, daily pulling weeds was her therapy. Karla loved college basketball and especially anything to do with the Duke Blue Devils her favorite team!
Because Karla was unable to have her own children due to health, she became particularly fond of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and thought of them as her kids. Volunteering was the apple of her eye, as she couldn’t stand to see those less fortunate go without. She would buy all manner of clothes, coats, socks and gloves for those less fortunate. She was an active volunteer at the Banquet S.O.S. Project for many years.
Despite being challenged by poor health most of her life she kept a positive attitude and always thought of others first and lived that principle.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Zeck of Sioux Falls, SD; mother-in-law, Judy Zeck of Conde, SD; Siblings Duane(Janet)Hasche of Okoboji, IA, Marlene (Tom)Haupert of LeMars, IA, Audrey Hasche of Sioux Falls, SD and Bruce(Kathy Moser) Hasche of Rock Rapids, IA; Brother-in-law, Richard Zeck of Brooklyn Center, MN; Nieces and nephews, Robin (Layne) Ibel, Amber (Peter) Widman, Dan Haupert, Derek Haupert, Megan (Jason) Vaith, Justin (Olivia) Hasche, Erica (Eric) Stuerman, Cameron (McKayla) Hasche, Addison (Saige) Zeck, Carter (Lexi) Zeck, Sheridan Zeck, and Foster Zeck.
