Karla Rose Radloff King, 71, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by family and love. Born in Uvalde on August 8, 1953, to Helen and Don Radloff, Karla grew up immersed in the simple beauty of the family ranch, The George Rose Ranch, owned by the Rose Family, long time pioneers of Kinney County. It was a place that nurtured her adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for life’s blessings. The legacy of the ranch continues on with the Broken Rose Ranch, which was part of the original estate and is now owned and managed by her son and daughter-in-law, Skylar and Colton Howard. Karla’s greatest joy in life was her family. She adored her son, Colton Wayne Howard, his wife Skylar Ann, and her cherished granddaughters, Ann Rose and Amelia “Mila” Gray. She also shared a special bond with her beloved sister, Vickie Nell Lawrence, her lifelong confidante and companion through all of life’s seasons.A woman of faith, Karla was deeply devoted to her relationship with Jesus Christ, a devotion reflected in her every action. She found her calling as an elementary school teacher, dedicating over four decades to shaping young minds with passion and care. Her unwavering commitment to her students earned her the honor of being named Uvalde County Independent School District’s Teacher of the Year in 1999, a testament to the profound impact she had on her community. She was also a survivor of the Robb Elementary School tragedy, and mourned that loss for the rest of her life. Karla loved the joy of Texas swing dancing, a tradition she shared with her late husband, Jerry King, whose memory she kept alive in every step and spin on the dance floor. She also delighted in Wednesday nights with the Chicas, her bunko nights with friends, treasuring the laughter, camaraderie, and moments of pure fun that enriched her life with so many life-long friends. Karla is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry King, and her parents, Don and Helen Radloff. She is survived by her loving son Colton, daughter-in-law Skylar, granddaughters Ann Rose and Mila, sister Vickie, nephew Donald Edwin Lawrence and his wife Neelou Shekarabi, great-nephews Cameron Gauge and Ayden Maverick, and niece Helen Suzanne Bryant and her husband Andrew James Bryant. Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, and be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery on December 8, 2024. Pallbearers includ Colton Howard, Michael Fordyce, Donald Lawrence, Andrew Bryant, Everett Ogburn, and James Arran Bevis. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nursing staff at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, who provided Karla with such loving care in her final days.Karla King’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
