Karla Ann Vinson

Karla Ann Bracewell Vinson, 72, passed away on January 28, 2025, at her home, in Lometa, TX.  The family will be greeting friends and relatives at First Baptist Church of Lometa (207 W. Main St, Lometa, TX 76853) on Sunday at 12:30 pm for a meal, visitation will start at 1 pm and services to follow at 2 pm.  Burial will follow at Senterfitt Cemetery, 2734 W. FM 581, Lometa, TX, 76853.

Karla was born on September 6, 1952, in Sour Lake, TX to Carl and Audrey (Cope) Bracewell.  Karla married Kenneth Ray Vinson on June 30, 1973.  They were happily married for over 51 years.  Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Audrey Bracewell and her sister, Judy Strokos. 

Karla is survived by her spouse, Kenneth Vinson of Lometa, TX; her son, Kenny Vinson, Jr, of Baytown, TX and Kenny's kids, Kaleb Brady, Leia Vinson and Audrey Vinson; her daughter, and son-in-law, Kristi and Shaun Krabill of Lometa, TX and their children, Devin Singley, Miles Krabill, Dylan Singley, Kara Singley (Shane Barnwell), and Emily Krabill; her siblings, Terry and Debbie Bracewell of Wallis, TX, Mike and Brenda Bracewell of Hardin, TX, Richard and Cathi Bracewell of Needville, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Karla grew up in Liberty, Texas.  She graduated from Liberty High School in 1971.  After high school, she attended St. Elizabeth School of Radiology in Beaumont, TX where she received her Radiology Technologist Certification.  She retired with over 44 years of service with Methodist Healthcare in Baytown, TX.

Karla was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Red Hat Group, as well as a local Bunko group.  She volunteered for many years for Relay for Life to raise awareness for cancer.  She enjoyed hosting Pampered Chef parties and scrapbooking with Creative Memories, and the company of the members as well as their friends and family that often joined at many events.

She and her family and friends enjoyed many years of camping, cooking, reading, playing dominoes, card and board games.  She loved sitting on the front porch in Lometa and watching the sunsets and the deer.  Her and Kenneth also enjoyed anything German, including their annual Wurstfest trips, the Painted Churches in Schulenburg, eating out (esp. any German place, like Rudi Lechner's in Houston), dancing (esp. Polka and C&W).  She also enjoyed following a few bands like Molly B and Kimberly McCarver - never passing an opportunity to see them live.

After moving to Lometa, she was involved locally in First Baptist Church Lometa where she helped by serving with the hospitality committee and kids church on Wednesday nights, and a member of the Lometa Garden Club.  She loved her church family and community.

Some of her most precious and treasured times were those she spent with her family and friends.  She loved holidays, hosting parties and any opportunities to socialize.  She was truly a social butterfly.  She was loved by many and loved them all in return.  She will be greatly missed.

Karla also truly enjoyed being surrounded by her family.  Family was her true joy, and she lived for those moments and memories.
