Ronnie Paul Sparks was born on August 26, 1957, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He passed from this physical world into spiritual eternity to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on
October 5, 2025, at the age of 68.
He was surrounded by his loved ones at home, who will forever remember him as a perfect
mix of a kind heart and a hot temper - a combination that made him uniquely Ronnie.
Though he made his home in Texas for many years, his heart always belonged to Alaska -
his favorite place in the world.
Ronnie had an endlessly curious mind and a gift for understanding how things worked. After
high school, his cousin brought him a computer, and Ronnie couldn't resist taking it apart
piece by piece - only to put it perfectly back together again.
That moment sparked a lifelong passion for technology. He built a successful career in
information technology, maintaining and running all of the computer systems for Penske Auto
Group dealerships in Texas. Through hard work and determination, he advanced to become
the IT Director for multiple dealerships - a role he took great pride in and performed with
excellence.
Ronnie's interests reflected his adventurous and down-to-earth spirit. A true "good old boy,"
he loved the Louisiana swamps and was happiest exploring the outdoors, catching any critters
he could get his hands on.
He loved off-roading, car racing, and cheering on LSU sports - especially when the Tigers
were on the field. He bled purple and gold but took up a love for the Texas A&M; Aggies out of
devotion to his niece, proving that his heart was as big as his loyalty.
He was tenacious, loyal, and fiercely devoted to his friends and family. Those who knew him
best will remember his dry humor, big heart, and unwavering willingness to help anyone who
needed it. He showed up for the people he loved - whether it was a friend in need or caring
for his parents in their old age - always giving selflessly and without complaint.
He never said a bad word about anyone, but he wasn't afraid to let you know if he disagreed
with you - a balance of honesty and kindness that defined who he was.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Sharon Strong, and her husband, Chip; his brother-in-law,
David Knox; his nephews, Hunter and Ian; his nephew, Jason Strong, and his wife, Carolina;
and his niece, Amanda Andes, her husband, Jon, and their seven children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Sparks and Mary Anne Couvillon, and his
beloved little sister, Dawn Knox.
Ronnie's faith was important to him. He trusted in God's plan of salvation, through Jesus
Christ, his Lord and Savior. He always hoped all he cared about would find the same
assurance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research
Hospital.
Ronnie will be remembered for his independence, his loyalty, and the deep love he had for
those around him. His legacy of curiosity, grit, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of
everyone who knew him.
