Annie Faye Petty was born in Bell County to William Gip and Annie May Hillard Petty in 1931. She was the middle child with 8 natural brothers and one adopted brother. As she was the only daughter she was known throughout her life as "Sister". Life was difficult growing up in the depression and the sharecropper family all did what they could to support the family including working in the fields and killing wild animals for food. She made her goal that her own children would get a good education and good jobs. Faye was married to Ovid Dolan Wear of Salado in 1950 when he was home on leave from the Air Force. For 23 years Dad served his country in 24 duty stations and Mom took care of keeping their three children fed, clothed, and educated. Many fond family memories were enjoyed in England, South Dakota, Louisiana, Florida, California, and eventually Texas. She lovingly took care of her grandmother Mary Elizabeth Baker Hilliard, her mother Annie May Petty, and her husband Ovid, as their health declined. Although she dearly wished she could have spent her last days on the 1869 family homeplace in Salado, Faye spent her final years in Lampasas under the care of her daughter, Dianna. The entire family aided her in her final weeks. She leaves behind a treasure-trove of crochet and intricate counted cross-stich angels, many of which won first place and grand prize ribbons at the Spring Ho County Fair. She loved a good joke and was an example of hard work and determination in all she did. Faye Wear is survived by one brother: Frank Petty of Ft Worth; three children: Dianna Hodges, David Wear (Jeannie), Donna Koepsel (Bernie); grandchildren Annah Hodges, Karen Limmer (Andrew), Arica Golden (Brent), and four beloved great-grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, Henry, and William. She was able to see scans of her great-grandson due in December. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, and son-in-law Daniel Hodges. Burial will be at Killeen Veterans Cemetery where she will be interred with her husband Ovid Wear. In lieu of flowers, Faye requested that memorial gifts be made to Cooper Spring Nature Park Foundation. Although she traveled the world, was born in Bell County, and had a home in Salado, she always considered Lampasas to be her home. The family wants to thank Dr. Robin Gruen, and the dedicated employees of Lampasas Wound Care, and friends who visited and treated her so kindly. Special thanks and gratitude to the outstanding staff of New Century Hospice, especially Angelica Valentine and Katie Farr who treated our mother like she was a member of their own family. www.cooperspringnaturepark.com He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away. Revelations 21:4
