Our beloved Karla Washington was born on July 4, 1942, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Robert L. and Stella Suggs Combs. On November 23, 2025, Karla departed this life to take her eternal rest.
Karla accepted Christ at an early age at Christ Church Holiness in Madisonville, Kentucky. Her dedication to her church was unwavering, and over the years she served as secretary, treasurer, Mother, and Deaconess.
She graduated from Rosenwald High School in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was previously employed by Enro Shirt Factory, McCoy & McCoy, Farmer’s Bank, Integra, and Hancock Bank. She enjoyed a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in the banking industry, and was known for her professionalism, integrity, and a warm rapport with everyone who drove up to her window.
Throughout her career, she remained committed to lifelong learning, completing many continuing education courses to further develop her expertise. She built lasting relationships and made a meaningful impact on her community through decades of dedicated service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Washington, and her brothers, Leon Combs Sr., Robert V. Combs, Perry L. Combs, and Samuel Combs.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, devoted daughters, Phyllis Washington Mason, Madisonville, Kentucky, and Cynthia (Hairon) Green, Nashville, Tennessee; niece/daughter Starlin (Gary) Willis, Bowling Green, Kentucky; great nieces/granddaughters, Sydni, Priestly, Breona, Chelsea and RyLeigh, Bowling Green, Kentucky; brother-in-law, James (Lillie) Washington, Madisonville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Sharon Combs, Louisville, Kentucky and Helen Combs, Madisonville, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends who will miss her dearly.
