Karly Kapphahn, age 41, of Hawkins, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in Quitman. She was born March 16, 1981 to Greg and Deborah Phillips in San Diego, CA.
Growing up, Karly loved to play soccer. She played on local school teams, traveling teams, and made varsity as a freshman in High School. Family vacations were spent at the beach in Panama City Beach Florida with her grandparents and brothers and sister and her daughters. She enjoyed baking, yoga, and anything to do with her two girls. Karly enjoyed anything to do with the water. Her family vacations were at places like Broken Bow, OK, Blue Hole, NM, Lake Holbrook, TX, Red Rock AZ, and Wakulla Springs FL where the waters were known to have alligators.
She had an artistic flare and made handmade gifts for her family and friends. She was very artistic for "Your Appetites" when it came to decorating cakes for the bakery, wedding cakes, and signage used in the bakery.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rhainy Kapphahn of Hawkins, TX, and Logan Kapphahn of Hawkins, TX; her parents, Greg and Deborah Phillips of Rocky Mount, NC; siblings, Stephan Phillips of Bakersfield, CA, A.J. Phillips of Santa Maria, CA, and Kate Smith of Santa Maria, CA; her grandpa, J.W. Neal of Panama City Beach, FL, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her grandma, Jan Shostek; grandpa, John Shostek; and grandma, Helen Neal.
A Memorial Service for Karly will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
"This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Karly Kapphahn my mama, my hero, my best friend, my everything. She passed away unexpectedly yesterday morning. Taking the light that brightened everybody who knew her away. She had a smile that lit up any room the biggest and most beautiful heart that did nothing but spread love and joy to others. Those who knew her know she never met a stranger and could talk the ears right off anyone who let her. However that's what made her so wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better mother who showed me what true unconditional love and strength means. I wouldn't be the woman I am today without her and I am forever grateful. She was a strong, smart, and stubborn woman who will be missed so much by Logan and I as well as so many others. Thank you to everyone who have sent us love and prayers. It means the world to Logan and I to see how many people loved her and saw the same wonderful woman we were lucky to call mom. I know she is in heaven now looking over us, she will be the warrior angle that protects us and gives us strength though this devastating time.
Thank you mama, I know no words could ever begin to describe the impact you had on our lives.
I love you mama!"
