It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Karmela Galla (nee. Grabecki) who left this world on June 8, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 13, 1936, Karmela lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. In her early life, Karmela enjoyed weekends with her parents at their vacation house in Essex, fondly known as "the shore". Many parties and reunions were enjoyed at the shore throughout the years.

Before Karmela met Ed, she was studying to be a nurse and worked in the newborn nursery, which was her favorite role as a nurse. She left her career and stayed home when she started her family.

Karmela found joy in life's simplest pleasures. She was an avid bowler for several years and had the highest score in her league for the 1974-1975 season. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, especially with her grandchildren. She had a love for lighthouses, and collected many lighthouse figurines. The love for lighthouses has extended to her grandchildren, who make sure to incorporate lighthouse visits on most of their own vacations. She shared her beautiful voice as a devoted member of her church choir at St. Casimir's, even up to her final day in this life.

A passionate traveler, Karmela delighted in exploring new places and cultures. Among her most cherished journeys were trips to Hawaii, South America, Yellowstone, and Egypt, where she embraced the beauty and joy of fun times remembered.

A proud resident of Dundalk, MD, she embraced each day with a warmth that touched everyone around her.
Karmela was a cherished wife to her husband of nearly 65 years, Edmund Galla, and a loving mother to her children, Mark (Sharon) and Sue Anne Galla. She took immense joy in being a grandmother to her five grandchildren: Kristina Robinson (Chris), Daniel Galla, Bethany Wegner (Dan), James Galla (Kylie), and Rebekah Smith (Jon) as well as great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Atticus, Felicity Robinson, Perseus Wegner, Remington and Raylynn Galla. Each moment spent with them was a treasure she held dear. Her home was always a haven of kindness, where stories were shared, and memories were made. She is preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Anna Grabecki.

Karmela had a gift for making everyone feel special and loved. Her laughter could light up a room, and her compassion knew no bounds. While we mourn her loss, we are also filled with gratitude for the many beautiful moments we shared with her.

We invite family and friends to join us in honoring Karmela's life with a visitation at Kaczorowski Funeral Home P.A. on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. A Christian wake will take place at 3:30 P.M.. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Casimir Church on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Karmela will forever be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and the joyful spirit that she shared with all. She will be deeply missed but she leaves behind a legacy that lives on in our hearts and memories.
