Lisle, Illinois, 2024 m. gruodžio 15 d., sulaukus garbingo amžiaus, i amžinybe iškeliavo Karolina (Lukošiute) Kubiliene. Liudesyje paliko vaikai: Ramune, Andrius (Lyana), Audra (Vitas) ir Tomas; anukai: Aleksas (sužadetine Keyenna), Lukas ir Diana Kubiliai, Gintare, Daiva ir Aras Dauliai. Taip pat broliene Ruta Lukoševiciene (brolio Juozo našle) su šeima, mirusiu broliu Jono Lukoševiciaus ir Petro Lukoševiciaus šeimos, sesers Eugenijos Juodienes ir sesers Monikos Povilaitienes artimieji, pusbrolis ir pusseseres JAV, Kanadoje ir Lietuvoje: ses. Eugenija Lukošiute, Michelina Beniušiene, Viktoras Lukošius, Vace Vasiliauskiene, Stase Cerniauskiene su šeimomis, mirusio pusbrolio Stasio Lukošiaus šeima, Kubiliu gimine, krikštavaikiai bei kiti artimieji ir draugai.
Karolina (Lina) gime 1925 m. rugsejo 12 d. Kulupenu kaime, Kartenos valsciuje, Kretingos apskrityje. Ji buvo jauniausia Juozo ir Monikos (Maksvytytes) Lukoševiciu dukra. Gimnazija lanke Kretingoje ir Mažeikiuose. Antrojo pasaulinio karo metu, sovietams okupavus Lietuva, Karolina pasitrauke i Austrija, o veliau i Vokietija, kur Miunchene baige gimnazija ir studijavo Pabaltijos universitete Hamburge bei Pinneberge. Su broliais ir seserim 1948 m. emigravo i Monreali, Kanadoje. Jos tevai liko Lietuvoje. Tevas Juozas buvo sovietu ištremtas i Karagandos lagerius, taciau jam buvo leista sugrižti i Lietuva, kur jis ir motina Monika galiausiai mire.
Monrealyje Karolina dirbo, studijavo ir ištekejo už Petro Kubiliaus. Monrealyje gime trys ju vaikai, o persikelus i Cikaga 1965 m., gime ketvirtasis.
Po vyro mirties Karolina rupinosi vaiku auklejimu, dirbo banke ir histologijos laboratorijoje veteranu ligonineje. Ji palaike artimus ryšius su giminemis ir draugais, dalyvavo kelionese, reme lietuviu organizacijas ir aktyviai isitrauke i ivairia veikla: deste lituanistineje mokykloje Cikagos Marquette Parko Švc. Mergeles Marijos Gimimo parapijoje, buvo mokytoju pavaduotoja K. Donelaicio mokykloje, dainavo Pal. Jurgio Matulaicio misijos chore Lemonte, redagavo ateitininku skyriu,,Draugo" laikraštyje, savanoriavo ivairiuose komitetuose.
Šermenys 4-8 v.v. ir atsisveikinimas (7 v.v.) su velione vyks penktadieni, 2024 metu gruodžio 20 diena, Petkaus laidojimo namuose (12401 Archer Ave, Lemont, IL 60439), o laidotuviu šv. Mišios bus aukojamos šeštadieni, gruodžio 21 diena 10 v.r. (9 v.r. atsisveikinimas) Pal. Jurgio Matulaicio misijoje (14911 E 127th St, Lemont, IL 60439). Velione bus palydeta i Šv. Kazimiero lietuviu kapines ir palaidota šalia savo vyro Petro Kubiliaus, mirusio 1979 m. sausio 16 d.

Karolina (Lukošiute) Kubilius
Karolina (Lukošiute) Kubilius passed away in Lisle, IL, on December 15, 2024, just months after her 99th birthday. She is mourned by her children: Ramune, Andrius (Lya), Audra (Vitas), and Tomas; grandchildren: Aleksas (fiancée Keyenna), Lukas, and Diana Kubilius; and Gintare, Daiva, and Aras Daulys. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruta Lukoševicius (widow of her brother Juozas), and family, as well as the families of her predeceased siblings: brothers Jonas Lukoševicius and Petras Lukoševicius, sisters Eugenija Juodis and Monika Povilaitis, her cousins in the U.S., Canada, and Lithuania: Sister Eugenija Lukošius, Micheline Beniušis, Victor Lukošius, Vace Vasiliauskas, Stase Cerniauskas, and their families and the family of the late Stasys Lukošius, as well as godchildren, other Kubilius relatives and friends.
Born on September 12, 1925, in Kulupenai Village, Kretinga District, Lithuania, Karolina was the youngest child of Juozas and Monika (Maksvytyte) Lukoševicius. She attended high school in Kretinga and Mažeikiai. During World War II, when Lithuania fell under Soviet occupation, Karolina fled to Austria and later to Germany, where she completed high school in Munich and studied at the Baltic University in Hamburg and Pinneberg. In 1948, she and her siblings emigrated to Montreal, Canada.Her parents remained in Lithuania. Her father, Juozas, was deported by the Soviets to a labor camp in Siberia, but was eventually allowed to return to Lithuania, where both he and her mother, Monika, later passed away.
In Montreal, Karolina worked, studied, and married Petras Kubilius. Three of their children were born in Montreal, and after moving to Chicago in 1965, a fourth child was born.
Following her husband's death, Karolina worked at a bank and as a histology technician in a veterans' hospital while raising her family. She stayed deeply connected to her relatives and friends, traveled frequently, and was actively involved in the Lithuanian American community. She taught Lithuanian classes at the Nativity BVM School in Chicago's Marquette Park. Additionally, she worked as a substitute teacher at the K. Donelaitis Lithuanian Saturday School and sang in the choir of the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission in Lemont. She also edited the "Ateitis" section in the Draugas newspaper and volunteered on various committees, particularly in support of her children's and grandchildren's activities.
A wake will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, 4-8pm at Petkus Funeral Home, located at 12401 Archer Ave, Lemont, IL 60439. This will be followed by a Funeral Mass on December 21st at 10am (viewing at 9am) at the Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission, located at 14911 E 127th St, Lemont, IL 60439. Karolina will be laid to rest at St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery in Chicago, next to her husband, Petras Kubilius, who passed away on January 16, 1979.
Supporting Lithuanian American and Catholic initiatives was very important to Karolina. We will miss our dearly departed Karolina and remember her caring nature, common sense, and wise counsel. May she rest in eternal peace.
