Karon Reber Bohn

 

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Karon Reber Bohn passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Syracuse, Utah. At the age of 84, she was reunited with her family and friends in heaven who proceeded her in death.

 Karon was born on March 15, 1940, in St George, Utah to Ellis Verl Reber and Roma Larson. She lived with her parents and twin sister, Sharon, in Littlefield, Arizona until her father passed away when she was 15 months old. Her family then moved to live with her grandparents, John and Lucinda Martin, on the family ranch in Beaver Dam Wash until the girls were old enough to attend school. They then moved to St George where she lived until she was married. Karon graduated from Woodword School, now known as Dixie High School, with the class of 1958. Shortly after graduation, Karon married Ralph DeVon Bohn. They were sealed on June 27, 1961, in the St. George, Utah temple.

 From an early age, Karon learned the value of hard work. Her first job, at the age of 14, was washing glasses at the famous Dick’s Café in St George, Utah. It was while working there that she met her husband, Ralph DeVon Bohn. He was stationed in St George while installing the telephone lines along the Black Ridge for Mountain Bell phone company. He ate all his meals there and soon fell in love with Karon. He asked if he could take her home one day after work and the rest is history. After their marriage, work took them to the Ogden area where they settled in Clearfield, Utah raised their three children and resided until their death. Karon worked for the Internal Revenue Service at the Ogden Service Center, until she retired with 35 years of dedicated service.

 She was able to make friends with anyone. In their later years, they would meet friends regularly at their favorite restaurants. She made friends with all the staff at each location. She considered them part of her family.

 She was known for her legendary baking and cooking skills. Never a holiday or special occasion passed without an array of goodies. Friends and family always looked forward to her plates of sugar cookies, homemade candy, and sweet breads.

 Karon loved crocheting and knitting. She made hundreds of baby blankets for her family and others. Those blankets are widely cherished.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings in Relief Society and Young Women’s. Serving others daily brought her much joy and happiness. The love of service was instilled in her children and family. Until the end of her life, she always expressed joy and happiness in spending time with family and friends. Family was her most important treasure and she looked forward to seeing them often.

 She was proceeded in death by her husband, Ralph DeVon Bohn, her twin sister, Sharon Thompson, and her parents. She is survived by her three children, Brent Bohn (Louise), D. Scott Bohn (Connie) and Michelle Bohn, as well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care provided by Intermountain Homecare and Hospice.

 A funeral will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family, Monday, July 1, 2024, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah where all who knew her are invited to pay final respects.

 Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.

 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to one of the funds of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
