Karsten Walther Obituary

KARSTEN V. WALTHER
September 6, 1937 ˜ April 4, 2023

Karsten V. Walther passed away April 4, 2023, at the age of 85 in Vancouver, WA.
Karsten was born in Copenhagen, Denmark.
As a child during World War II, Karsten and his father were part of the resistance. As an adult, he served as a lieutenant in the Danish national guard.
Karsten was an electrical engineer, then later was hired at the Danish TV and radio in 1965 . He was a producer of four TV shows, made sports TV transmissions possible for Western Europe, North and South America, and worked in the sports department as a technical inspector. He then retired from the Danish TV after 26 years.

With his wife Annie and three of his children they moved to Vancouver, WA, Annie’s hometown in 1990. They started Viking Video production company, worked with families, companies and law-enforcement. As a Rotarian Karsten received the Paul Harris Fellowship, just like his father-in-law, Robert Hidden, and brother-in-law William Hidden. He started the talking Christmas tree at the Rotarian Christmas tree festival and ran the talking tree for many years.
He retired in December 2018 to spend time with his grandchildren and family. Karsten picked up grandchildren from school for 12 years. Family and friends were the most important part of his life. The door was always open for visits. Karsten loved the friendliness and community feeling of Vancouver.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Hidden Walther, of 51 years; their son Flemming Walther and his wife Susie, their daughter, Kirsten and her husband Bryan Everett, their daughter Melissa and her husband, Ron Sears; his daughter Susan Ahrendt Meldgaard; and Bryan Kenyon, sons Philip, Patrick and his wife Chloe; his sister Birgit Bredahl and her family in Denmark and cousins in Sweden, Alaska and New York.
His grandchildren in Denmark, Michella and her husband Christian Johannis-Sorensenand his grandson Michael Johannis and his wife Jessica.
His grandchildren in the U.S., Averie, August, Aecea Everett, Lillian, Sophia, Madelyn, Charlotte Sears.
Also his great-grandchildren in Denmark, Ida, Milas, Hailey and Alba.

Karsten was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
There will be a celebration of life as Karsten requested, June 11. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated
