Donald John Talbott

Donald John Talbott, born June 8, 1934 in Overland, MO, to Clarence and Ada

(Birkey) Talbott, passed away on January 20, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 at 11:00am at The Tonganoxie

Historical Museum in Tonganoxie, KS. Celebrate a life well-lived with food,

stories and Don's favorite desert - ice cream. The family encourages you to share fond memories you may have of Don at that time.

Don was in the United States Marine Corp approximately two years spending

much time in Okinawa, Japan. In the 1960's Don married Patricia Carter. They had two children and were later divorced.

In 1988 Don married Donna Pirhalla in Excelsior Springs, MO, which was their

home until 1990. They moved to rural Bates County MO until 2016. Don and

Donna moved to Tonganoxie, KS and became active community members.

Don was a loving father to his two and Donna's two children, a blended family.

The four children are married. Don has eight grandchildren and two great

grandchildren.

Don, an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan, taught history and coached football

at Winnetonka High School from 1970 to 1995. Don was self-employed with

residential construction such as home additions and deck building in summer

when not teaching.

A devoted family man, Don was a lifelong dog lover, enjoyed building useful

items for his family, friends, and community, and had natural musical talent.

Don's kind heart, quick humor, and gentle soul touched those around him.

Survivors include; his wife, Donna Pirhalla Talbott, of the home; Sons, Donald John Talbott II (wife Tammy), Olive Branch, Mississippi, John Pirhalla (wife Jill), Walters, Oklahoma; Daughters, Rebecca Susan Railey, (husband Balta Puig) Vancouver, Washington, Angela Pirhalla Irwin (husband Michael) Tonganoxie, KS; grandchildren, Matthew Pirhalla, Katie Hawks, Cody Pirhalla, Colton Pirhalla, Blake Kelsay, Michael G. Irwin, Sam Talbott and Anna Barlow (husband Lance); six great grandchildren, Carter Barlow, Kate Barlow, Emerson Hawks, Lyla Hawks, Sophia Hawks, and Ariyah Lundgen.

and organizations which Don supported with his time and money - The

Tonganoxie Historical Museum, Tonganoxie Lions Club or Tonganoxie's Good Shepherd Food Pantry.
