I volunteered with Larry at the Clark County Genealogical Society. His skills and knowledge were always so impressive. He did so much for this organization and we are grateful. I personally made a contribution to CCGS to honor his memory.

Here are a few photos of Grandpa & Grandma on our family outdoor excursions. These represent my favorite moments and memories with them. I am very grateful for the legacy and values that Grandpa & Grandma shared with each other, and the rest of us as a family; including love for nature and outdoor adventures, loyalty, hard-work, dedication to the small (but important) things, and appreciation for learning and education. They are missed, but mostly I feel fortunate to have had them around as a unit for all of these years.

Very sorry for the loss of both Larry and Jo. I´ve known them for the majority of my life, from when I fell in love with their Daughter Kathy. I have much respect for both of them. Like my own Father, Larry grew up with very little and worked hard for everything he ever had.
I will forever cherish so many great memories of family get togethers, enjoying delicious meals prepared by Jo. She even got me to try eating brussell sprouts, and liking them! We all know it´s the simple things in life that mean the most. Larry and Jo loved the family very much, especially their grandchildren.
Perhaps the thing I cherish the most is they both, along with Kathy introduced me to hiking and backpacking. I remember my first backpack trip with them, and I wasn´t to sure if it was for me, but I made it. My
Love for the mountains and the beauty of nature is in large part due to them. Trips to many of the beautiful areas in the cascade mountains, even climbing a couple mountains with them, is something I will always be grateful for. I remember being on hikes with them and pointing to a flower asking "what´s that one?" Jo or Kathy always knew it´s name.
As is often the case, I wish I would have spent more time with them. They impacted my life in a positive way, I miss them but will always cherish them, their love, and all the memories.

Celebrating their love story at the beach

Grandpa Larry did not have success mapped out for him, he sought out and seized opportunity despite heavy childhood challenges. He was as hardworking, driven, and grounded in his values as a person could be. He created a legacy and path for generational stability, humbly and generously funding higher education for many of his descendants... something that I and my own children will benefit from. I admire the value he put on learning and sharing new experiences over things. What I remember most was his tender-heart toward my grandma. In our last visit with them Dec 2025, he was still holding her hand tightly, 73.5 year old wedding band on, and concerned most that she would get to hug and play with her great granddaughter. He was still kissing her good night. I will miss his warm hugs and genuine interest in our life. I love my grandparents, and will often think of their love and the life they so richly shared and built.

Grandpa Larry and Grandma Jo happily celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary in Lincoln City, Oregon in 2019. Amazingly, they still celebrated 6 more after this one (less than 0.1% of marriages last 70+ years). Quite a testament to their love for one another and their healthy, active lifestyle.

Grandpa Larry was very supportive of his grandchildren and our educational aspirations. This photo was from when he and Grandma Jo attended my graduation in Spokane in 2009.

Larry was a no-nonsense boss. He was sharp as a tack and he expected no less of his employees. He was the Frank Reagan ("Blue Bloods") of BPA always striving to do the right thing. He was as well-known for his integrity as he was for his intelligence.
He had a great sense of humor that could stop a person in their tracks.

We remember Larry and Jo from our time in the Ptarmigan mountaineering club. They were such a nice couple and we enjoyed spending time with them. One of our favorite memories of Larry was after he retired. He and Jo went to Sunriver for a month. When they returned he had not shaved or had a haircut. The guys had a good time teasing him because he was always such a clean cut guy. We were so happy they had a relaxing month in such a beautiful place. Our condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear that Larry passed. He was a great guy. We had one thing in common that many don't share. He and I both drove tractors pulling combines in the Palouse hills. I wish I had known him better.

Larry was BPA's "go to" power manager. He knew "river operations" and was relied on by all. When there was a disagreement, we "called Larry" who settled the matter.
