Kason Shawn Smith was born in Harbor City, California to Kerry Smith Jr. and Patricia Ann Smith on March 26, 1980. Kason was the youngest of 4. Kason grew up in California until the age of 16 when his parents moved back to Texas to be with family. In 1998 Kason graduated from Eisenhower High School where he met Dorothy. What started as a close friendship for 7 years, later grew into a marriage made in Heaven on December 30th, 2004. In January 2009 Kason and Dorothy had their first-born son, Kayden. In 2011 They gave birth to their first daughter Karis, and in 2013 they gave birth to their baby girl Karai. Kason's 3 kids were his pride and joy, and he was determined to make them all ninja warriors. Kason was a hard worker, and from the age of 17 always kept a job. Kason's faithfulness, reliability, and dedication showed in all his work. In 2000 Kason worked as a loan officer at Serenity Mortgage (his Mom's Company). Kason had the privilege of working with his best friend Patricia Smith his mom until their doors closed in 2008. In 2008 Kason worked at Jack Henry for 4 years, and in 2011 he worked at Windstream for 11 years. In January 2022 He accepted an opportunity at Talkdesk. Talkdesk allowed him to Utilize all his work experience and cultivated in the world of AI communications. Kason was passionate about his work, and felt it was a privilege to work under management he admired, and respected, and among colleagues he called friends.
Kason's priorities in life were God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost, his wife and children, his family, his church family, his community, and Martial arts. Kason practiced Kung Fu Sanshouand Taekwondo in California as a teen. He practiced Hapkido as an adult under Master Song Chol, and Jiu Jitsu in 2019 under Sean Flanery.
Kason spent Monday - Thursday on the mat with his Jui Jitsu Brothers or grappling on the mat with his wife and 3 kids Kayden, Karis, and Karai.
Every weekend Kason was with his family at a wrestling tournament, a swim meet, at church, or having dinner with his family and dear friends. Kason enjoyed spending time with his brother, sister, nieces and nephews. If there was time to spare you may see him with his family at the movies, playing video games, or working on a project.
Kason loved traveling with his wife and children, whether it was a local trip to Galveston or across the world in another country. Traveling with his children gave him joy.
Kason was an ordained Deacon at St John Community Baptist Church, where he was a member. Kason also attended the MET church regularly.
Kason served on the Tower Oaks Civics club, first as a member of the board, then became President in 2020 until his death in June 2024
Kason did not collect junk nor did he throw away anything he collected. The friendships Kason collected along life's journey he cherished. Kason Loved you.
On June 21st, 2024, Kason received his Heavenly call and went home to be with the Lord. Preceding him in Death: His Mother Patricia A. Smith, his Father Kerry Smith Jr., his brother Kerry Shawn Smith, and his Grandparents. Here to carry on his legacy and cherish his memory, is his wife Dorothy, his 3 children, Kayden, Karis, and Karai. His Brother Kerry D. Smith, (Tonya), his sister Karen White, (Andrew), His In-Laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
