Katherine Barlow Obituary
Katherine Marie Barlow, affectionately known as Kay, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2024. Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 26th, 1933, to Adolph Chester Marder Senior and Catherine Otelia Bell Marder Betts, her life was a rich tapestry woven with love, dedication, and creative flair.
Kay grew up in Dallas and attended Crozier Tech where she developed skills that would pave the way for her successful career. She worked at Taylor Publishing Company as a graphic arts stripper, a vital role in which she meticulously prepared artwork for printing. Her high standards and keen eye for detail made her a respected figure in her field.
A devout member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Kay's faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and solace through the many seasons of her journey. Additionally, she harbored a passion for woodworking-a hobby through which she expressed her creativity and craftsmanship, making beautiful pieces that were cherished by many.
Kay's life was full of love, shared generously among her family and friends. She is survived by her partner, Jeraldine K. Couch, and her children, Karin Jean Kuse, James Ennis (Jeb) Barlow, and Katherine Elizabeth (Kathy) DeBusman. Kay was a proud grandmother to Christopher Jason Rich, Jeffrey Todd Waldrum, Katherine Michelle Roberts, Jasmine De La Garza, and James Cody Barlow, who will all hold her memory dear.
Kay was preceded in death by her father Adolph Chester Marder Sr., her mother Katherine Otelia Bell Marder Betts, her brothers Adolph Chester Marder Jr., Donald Charles Marder Sr., and Daniel Joseph Marder 1. Her beloved husband, James Hickman (Sonny) Barlow, also passed before her.
In celebrating the life of Katherine Marie Barlow, we remember a woman of boundless energy, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to brighten the lives she touched.
