Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, Inc. on Feb. 4, 2026.
Katherine A. "Katie" (Little) Carpenter, 86, of Shunk, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Katherine Arlene was born on September 18, 1939, in Shrewsbury, Township, Pa, a daughter of the late George and Martha (Davis) Little. When Katie was only six years old, her mother passed away from tuberculosis, and she and her sisters were lovingly raised by their grandparents, Aid and Millie Little.
She was a graduate of Sullivan Highland High School and, shortly after, married her soulmate, Milford Carpenter Sr. Together, they shared 50 years of devoted marriage until his passing in 2007.
Katie, as she was known to most, was a former member of the Red Run Rod and Gun Club, the Wheel Inn, Women of the Moose, and the Endless Winds Fire Company in Shunk.
Katie loved playing bingo, crocheting, and gardening. She was a talented baker and will be fondly remembered for her molasses and sugar cookies. Feeding and watching the birds was one of her favorite pastimes. In her earlier years, she and Milford enjoyed cruises and beach vacations together. Katie was no stranger to hard work and was always dedicated to providing for her family. Most important to her were the moments spent with her loved ones at gatherings, holidays, and picnics where everyone was together.
Katie leaves behind her children: Lucinda (Thomas) Coyle of Canton, Regina (Daniel) Feldser of Hughesville, and Milford Carpenter Jr. of Granville; her grandchildren: Mark (Melissa) Coyle, Jamie (Paula) Coyle, Stephanie (Michael) Duff, and Nakia Carpenter; and her great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Malachi, Aaron, Lukas, Leo, and Cayson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Milford, Katie was predeceased by her siblings: Elizabeth Sharp, Leah Mae Reichman, Helen Hurst and Patricia Little and a great grandson Johan Lattimer.
In keeping with Katie's wishes, services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
