Funeral services for Katherine Martinez Powell, 87, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at House of Prayer International in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Mike Reed officiating and Rev. Ron Brown assisting. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 19, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Ms. Powell was born March 22, 1936, in Monroe, LA, and passed away February 17, 2024. She lived a full life and loved her children tremendously, but her grandson, Sam, was her baby and the reason she fought so hard and long.
Ms. Powell is preceded in death by her husband, Troy Powell; her brothers, Scott Martinez and Joseph Martinez; sisters, Ann Banares and Lucille Dubiel; and her parents, Joseph and Mary Martinez.
Survivors include her children, Michael Martinez (Cheryl), Lisa Harris (Jay), Kathy Powell (Joe); grandson, Samuel Harris; sister, Mona Reed; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Bishop, Brian Pike, Sam Harris, Bruce Bishop, Kenny McCurdy and Ron Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Oladapo Lapite and Joe Blair.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sam Harris Missions.
