Katherine Laverne (Kay) Corley Ransom passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2005. She was born July 28, 1907 in Stamford, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Pres Corley and moved to Dallas when she was 3 years old. Kay graduated from Highland Park High and attended SMU where she pledged ADPi Sorority. She married William Bradley (Bill) Ransom on December 12, 1927 and moved to Austin, Texas in 1932. She was a member of First Methodist Church for over 65 years and active in church, youth circle and Sunday school. She was a member of Susanna Wesley Class where she served as President several times and she also served on the board of First Methodist Church. She was a life member of St. David’s, a volunteer Robin for many years; member of Auld Lang Syne Luncheon Club and Friday Bridge Club; a life member ADP Alumnae Group and the Modern Study Club. Kay was a person of great compassion who lavished her caring and cooking talents on family, friends, neighbors and total strangers. Her cheerful presence, quick wit and signature brownie muffins she gave to all will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Survivors include her daughter, Kay Tillman; son-in-law, Lee Tillman and grandson, Michael Tillman; cousins, Curtis Kennedy of Dallas, Carrie Marable Durrum of Clarksville, Anne Marable Priest of Dallas, and Prudence Mahaffey Machintosh of Dallas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. James Prentice, Dr. George Tipton, Dr. Buforn Hahn, John Donovan, Mack Forbes, Warren Bair, Gordon Houser, Dick Choate, Charles McCullough, Kevin Holcomb, Charles Penick, John Williams, Bob Farley, Dr. Jack Schneider, Brian Kingston, Vernon Scofield, John Oliver, Don Flourney, Bill Bonds, Joe Holt, Tommy Holt and Robert Kelly. What a wonderful, caring, gentle person!! She brought much joy and pleasure to all who had the good furtune of knowing and loving her. She was a dear, sweet cousin, and she will be greatly missed. I loved her very much.
