Katherine Shaver Roberts, 89, of Mount Gilead passed away early Thursday morning, May 2, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Hancox and Rev. Glenn Hancock will officiate and interment will follow at Melton's Grove United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church
Katherine was born July 14, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Otis and Bessie Smith Shaver.
She was a member of Melton's Grove United Methodist Church. She was a retiree of Gilead Manufacturing. Katherine was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed making clothes, especially baby clothes, and giving them away. In earlier years, she enjoyed maintaining a garden with her husband and square dancing dates. She was caring, giving, loving, and had a heart of gold. She enjoyed spending time and cooking Sunday lunch for her family. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert Shaver, Clyde Shaver, and Robert Shaver.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy Jacobs Roberts, Sr.; sons, Roy Roberts, Jr (Dolores), Kenneth Roberts (Cheryl), Roger Roberts and Allen Roberts (Randi); daughter, Kathy Mabry (Johnny); nine grandchildren: Marsha Mabry, Megan Mabry, Kenny Roberts Jr. (Paige), Dusty Roberts (Alexandria), Jessie Smith (Wesley), Jonathan Roberts (Lily), Jordan Roberts, Zachary Moore, and Alexis Roberts; four great-grandchildren, Harper, Ada, Lilly, and Holden; and one sister, Ethel Dennis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meltons Grove United Methodist Church c/o Kathy Mabry 850 McKay Hill Road, Mt. Gilead NC 27306
