Katherine "Kathy" Schoonover, 66, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Burial will be held in Old Union Cemetery in Bible Grove, IL at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Kathy was born on April 21, 1959 in Louisville, IL, the daughter of Pinkney Fulk and Bertha Atteberry. She was easy to love and always happy. She loved her cat, Melissa.

Kathy is survived by her three children, Theresa, Kevin and Christopher; special friend, Dennis; siblings, Dianne Miselbrook (Fred, deceased), Frank Fulk (Dale), Tony Fulk (Lois, deceased), Lisa Fulk (special friend, Lenny Thoele), Cubia Acree (James), and Joe Hembree (Jean); step-siblings, Linda Bosley (Charlie), Lois Martin (Perry, deceased), Margie Moore (Terry), Cindy Cook (Roger); niece and best friend, Diona Griffy (Andy); several nieces and nephews; and friend, Tammy Linton-Myers;

She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Pinkney and Sally Fulk; mother, Bertha Atteberry; siblings, Larry Pierce (Lorraine), Connie Carter (Jim), and Mary Holste (Tom); step-brother, Bob Bateson;
