Katherine Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scot Ward Funeral Services - Conyers on Jan. 18, 2026.
Katherine Ann Smith, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on April 16, 1956, in Atlanta, Georgia, Katherine was the cherished daughter of Sue Reece and Johnny Collum, who both preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, Katherine was a beacon of love and strength, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family, which included her two brothers, Terry and Tommy Collum, who also predeceased her. Katherine's enduring love for her family served as the foundation of her life. She is survived by her brother, Michael Collum of Newnan, and her adoring children: Sherry Clark (Robert) of Covington, Johnny Collum of Jackson, and Brandy Ivey (Kenneth) of Newnan.

Katherine was a devoted grandmother, and her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Samantha Kersey of Gibson, Justin O'Toole of Monroe, Terry Manning of Newnan, Joesph Manning of Jackson, Tyler Collum of Arkansas, Athan Collum of Virginia, and Myla Collum. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their accomplishments, fiercely supporting them in all their endeavors.

Katherine's passions extended beyond her family. Her home was a sanctuary filled with vibrant plants, and she found joy in nurturing them. Animals held a special place in her life, particularly her beloved dog, Skippy, as well as her collection of frogs and butterflies. These simple pleasures brought her immense happiness and peace, illustrating her gentle spirit and appreciation for the beauty around her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com. Scot Ward Funeral Services, 699 American Legion Rd., Conyers, GA, 770-483-7216.
