Kathleen Marie Hintz, 72 died peacefully on September 7, 2025 with family by her side. She was born in Green Bay, WI, on December 16, 1952, to Thomas O'Connell and Patricia (Woulf) O'Connell. Kathie graduated from West De Pere High School in 1971. Kathie married Michael J Hintz Sr. on July 1, 1972 at St Boniface church in De Pere, WI.
They welcomed their first-born son, Michael, into the world in November that same year, and their second child Joshua into the world in 1977. Some of the best years of her life were raising her boys as a stay-at-home mother. Kathie worked many different jobs including doing accounting to help make ends meet, and later in her life, she pursued her passion of nursing and became a CNA. She worked many years at St Vincent Hospital initially in oncology and then in maternity. She loved her job and genuinely cared for people.
Kathie was full of life with a spectacular sense of humor. She was a loving, trusting, and faithful woman who welcomed all that she met with her beautiful smile, a glimmer in her eye, and helping hand. In 1995, She became a grandma for the first time, and she committed the rest of her life to being the best grandma and great grandma she could be. Kathie loved nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed the cabin up north, fishing, driving the "Ferrari" (golf cart), and hand feeding fawns apples off the porch, which she would give names to along with all the adult deer in the yard. The hunters in the family were politely reminded by Kathie that "they weren't allowed to hunt the ones with names." Kathie was an amazing cook, and she loved to travel with friends and family. Most notably amongst her adventures was being able to go to Ireland. When she had time to herself, Kathie would cozy up to read a good book.
It goes without saying that Kathie was an accomplished, talented artist. She painted beautiful oil paintings for family and friends and donated her beautiful artwork to raise money for local clubs and charities. Her creativity crossed over to crafting, making shirts using her cricut, quilting, and ceramics. Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year, and there was a good chance that a Hallmark Christmas movie was on while Kathie was cooking or crafting. Those who knew Kathie were fortunate enough to be blessed by her kindness, sense of humor and her amazing ability to always make you laugh and feel good about life.
Kathie is survived by her husband Michael Hintz Sr, Michael "MJ" (Jennifer) Hintz, and Joshua (Kristy) Hintz, her grandchildren Quaid Hintz, Gracin (Grant) Lemorande, Irelyn Hintz, Braelin Warden, and Sawyer Hintz and great grandchild Hayzlee and another perfect little nugget on the way. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters: Mike O'Connell, Peggy (Al) Pokel, Tim (Tracie) O'Connell, Ann O'Connell, Sharon O'Connell, Joe O'Connell, many nieces, nephews, and close family friends Sue (Bob) Brandt-DuChateau, Cherryl Courchaine, and Nancy Kaster.
Kathie was preceded in death by their unborn child, her parents Patricia and Thomas O'Connell, Her favorite Uncle Jim and Aunt Norma O'Connell, and siblings John O'Connell, Pete O'Connell, Tom O'Connell.
Family and friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N Tenth St, De Pere, WI with visitation from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday September 20, 2025. A celebration of life with shared memories of Kathie will begin at Noon.
