Kathleen M. Clarke Aring, 89, of Cottonton, AL died at her home on Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Monday, January 13, 2025, with Father David Hamm officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL

Mrs. Aring was born April 06, 1935, in Manchester, England daughter of the late William Clarke and Mary Jane Bergin Clarke. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Mrs. Aring was a lifelong volunteer with her church and within the communities that she lived. We will miss all of the energy she seemed to always have. No matter if she was serving as a volunteer at a school event, being a great wife or caring for her children and grandchildren over the years she never seemed to run out of energy. Mrs. Aring loved to travel, bowl and square dance. She was also an excellent cook, often preparing dishes for family and friends to enjoy. Mrs. Aring also enjoyed her pets. They were her constant companions.

Mrs. Aring was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Jane Clarke, her husband of 59 years, MSGT (Ret) Virgil Chris Aring and a son-in-law, J. S. Martin.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Aring-Martin of Lorton, VA and Ann Griffith and husband, Martin of Cottonton, AL, two brothers, Christopher Matthew Clarke and Bernard Clarke both of England; two grandsons, Patrick Martin and Matthew Griffith; several other family members and friends.
