Obituary of Kathleen Mary Barta
Kathleen (Kathy) Mary Barta (Cossette), age 84, of Richfield, passed away August 12th, 2024, peacefully at Little Hospice in Edina.
Kathy was born September 22nd, 1939, to George and Mary Cossette in Minneapolis where she also attended St. Anthony All-Girls Catholic High School. After high school, Kathy worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company where on April 26th, 1958, she met Henry (Hank) Barta at a telephone company roller skating event. On October 15th, 1960, she married her husband, Hank and they were married for more than 52 years before his passing on December 31st, 2012. Kathy and Hank were members of St. Richards Catholic church in Richfield where their children also attended elementary school. Kathy enjoyed playing bingo with her close friends. In addition, she very much enjoyed watching out her living room picture window every day the love of birds, squirrels, rabbits, and turkeys. She also enjoyed over the years her pet animals, with most recently, her cat, Mimi, after Hank's passing along with her grand/great-grand puppy dogs, too.
Kathy is preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Cossette of Minneapolis; husband, Henry (Hank) Barta and grandson, Seth (Barta). She is survived by her children, Joe (Barta), Nina (Barta), Nancy (Barta) Peterson, Mary (Barta) Flahavan and Steve (Barta); grandchildren, Sarah, Tarah, Pete (Ron), Paul, Tori, Hanna, Jenna, Alyce, Peter, Cierra, Savanah, Anna and Will; great-grandchildren, Eloise (Ellie), Aiden and Fenris and many other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life for Kathy will be held at a date to be determined with a private burial for family and close friends at Fort Snelling Cemetery where she will be laid to rest on Hank and her wedding anniversary day to be "together forever".
