Kathleen Boland Obituary
Kathleen Marie Boland (nee Mullen) passed away peacefully at the age of 76 surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Helen S. Mullen (nee Dooley), and Francis J. Mullen. “Kate” was raised in West New York, New Jersey, and attended Saint Joseph’s of the Palisades High School. After graduation, she completed The New York Foundling Pediatric Nurse Training Program which prepared her for a 28-year career as a maternity nurse at Englewood Hospital and Meadowlands Medical Center, both in northern New Jersey. In 1996, Kate became head of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit at Sunrise Assisted Living in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Kate enjoyed volunteering, baking, reading, classical music and movies, and was a huge fan of the Beatles. She loved all animals, including her grand-dogs Otis and Ellie, and had a special fondness for giraffes. As a dedicated member and “Family Rep” of the larger Dooley clan, Kate loved her family dearly. She grew up spending summers in Manasquan, New Jersey, and looked forward to this precious time at the beach with her immediate and extended family every year. Her sense of humor, loving smile, joyful nature and dedication to her family will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Patrick Mullen, and her sisters, Ann Marie Hughes and Helen Prout. She is survived by her son, Todd (Leigh-Anne) and daughter, Jacleen, her siblings, Peggy Healy (John), Michael Mullen (Debra) and Francis Mullen (Lori), and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 West Lancaster Ave, Wayne, PA 19087, and on Saturday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 35 Old Eagle School Road in Strafford, PA 19087 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM in the basement Chapel, followed by her Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 17, 2024, 11:00 AM. Interment at Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery at Valley Forge.
