The family of Kathleen (Katie) Duggan Burke is saddened to announce her passing. Katie died of complications from COVID.
Katie was the beloved mother of Katherine Alice Danielle Young, cherished daughter of Joseph L. Burke MD and Mary (Mimi) Duggan Burke, dear baby sister of Genevieve Burke, Marylee BurkeKrouse (Jeffrey), and Colleen Burke Wooton (Dean), and warm-hearted aunt of Josey AnneMarie Krouse.
Katie was born in Waukegan, Illinois, where her father delivered her at St. Therese Hospital. She attended St. Anastasia's Catholic School in Waukegan and graduated from Saint Mary's Grade School and Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, Illinois. She studied at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and pursued her love of art at the American Academy of Art College in Chicago. Katie took great delight in giving family and friends her works of art.
Katie met the challenges of her life with grace and an optimistic spirit. Her strong Faith sustained her, and she knew that someday she would be at peace in God's Kingdom. Katie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Mass of the Resurrection for Katie will be celebrated at a later date.
Those who wish to remember Katie are encouraged to donate to Catholic Charities.
