Kathleen Kay "Kathy" Christian, 65, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas.

Born on December 13, 1959, in Port Arthur, Texas, Kathy was the daughter of Kenny Kimler and Janice Fay Latiolais. She graduated from Bridge City High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Lamar University. Her passion for teaching led to a fulfilling 28-year career as an elementary school educator. She spent 13 years teaching third grade at Zavalla ISD and another 15 years teaching first grade at Hemphill ISD before retiring in 2021. Kathy loved all of her students and took great pride in nurturing young minds.

Kathy married Kenneth M. Christian, with whom she shared a devoted and loving marriage that spanned 50 years. Together they built a life rooted in family and community. They made their home in Huntington before settling in Hemphill in 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth M. Christian of Hemphill; her son, Mark Christian and his wife, Tracy, of Huntington; her daughter, Regan Ramos of Hemphill; and her three cherished grandchildren: Christian Ramos, Olivia Christian, and Ava Ramos. Kathy also leaves behind her sisters, Shalian Kemp Gearen, Mel Kemp Campbell, and Wendy Kemp Davenport; brothers, Raney Carol "Bubba" Kemp and Kenny Keith Kimler; and her beloved Australian Shepherd, Bullet.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenny Kimler; mother, Janice Fay Latiolais; stepmother, Sue Kimler; and brother, Dean Kimler.

Kathy had a deep love for nature-she delighted in butterflies, bugs, rocks, crystals, and especially diamonds, which she fondly referred to as "her rocks." She found joy in gardening and was known for her exceptional cooking skills. Baking and cooking with her granddaughters brought her special happiness. A fan of trivia and quick wit, she enjoyed watching Jeopardy and playing along with enthusiasm.

Above all else, Kathy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an outstanding Granny in every way. Her warmth touched many lives both inside the classroom and beyond.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill with Alberto Williams officiating.
