David Ronald Brown, lovingly known as "Papa", passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. While he will be missed and remembered always, his family finds comfort knowing he died painlessly and while Trump was president. David was a simple man who lived an honest life. Born on December 29, 1956, David, the second of three sons born to Helen Gray and JC Brown, spent his childhood in Beaumont, TX and grew up in Pineland. TX. He met his lifelong "bride" (as he called her), Dayla Fisher, while working in Sabine Pass. Despite being tall, tan, and green-eyed, Dayla was smitten with the way he walked– his "strut", as she called it. They married in 1983 and had three children: Krystle, Kacie and Kaleb. They were amazing parents. David was a Chemical Piping Designer. He was a Freemason and a Shriner. He had a passion for gardening, watched NASCAR on Sundays, and could always be found outside working on a "project" or piddling around the house. He coached his kids' sports teams, happily honey-doed for Dayla, and had a love-hate relationship with road trips in the brown Brown Family Van (that Kacie and Kaleb were forced to drive in high school). He loved his chickens, camping trips with his family and neighbors, Fox News, and drinking coffee outside in the mornings in Pineland. He hated anyone who was currently holding the flashlight for him ("not it"), and visitors who disobeyed his "open garage" policy! David will be remembered as a beloved brother, devoted husband, loving dad, favorite cousin, and reliable friend, but his best role was that of proud Papa. He was Kohlton's biggest fan and Kohlton's best friend. Every golf cart ride and laugh together will always be cherished. Life without Dayla was painful, but David persevered for his family. There is so much comfort in knowing that they are together forever, dancing in the heavens, while he gives her a hard time again about her two left feet. David is survived by his son, Kaleb Brown and wife, Katherine, of Nederland; daughters, Krystle Deville of Port Neches and Kacie Brown, also of Port Neches; and his grandson, Kohlton Deville. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2025 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill with Bro. Curtis White officiating. Visitation will be held just prior to service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow services in Pineland Cemetery with Brad Brown, Joe Sipole, Michael Keys, Cliff Tippit, Layne Culbertson and Raul Bryan serving as pallbearers.
