Kathleen "Kathy" M. Cottone, 81, of Exton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Eagleview Landing with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Cottone, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 21, 2025.
Born in Garden City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Evelyn C. Daley McNulty.
Kathleen is survived by her two sons, Kevin C. Cottone and his wife Robin and Greg P. Cottone and his wife Michele; two sisters, Irene Finnegan (Ambrose) and Patricia Coyne (Frank) and by five grandchildren, Brendan, Corey (Sarah), Allie, Ava, and Zac. She was predeceased by her son, Brian.
Kathy was the very proud and loving mother of three boys. She was also the eldest of three sisters, a role she embraced with wisdom, care, and a strong sense of responsibility. She maintained lifelong bonds with her sisters, Irene and Pat, and treasured their close connection. Kathy was a woman of great heart and character. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family.
Kathy was an elementary school teacher but sacrificed her career to raise her family. Kathy was always at her sons' sides and spent close to two decades driving them to practices, school activities or sitting on the bleachers cheering them on. Kathy served as president of several PTA, taught CCD, and volunteered at every opportunity.
Kathy, along with her husband, Chuck, also loved Saint Simon's Island, Georgia where they lived upon retirement. Kathy found joy in life's simple pleasures: tending for her home, cooking for her family, and reading. She loved to travel. She loved being in the outdoors. She was an avid golfer. She adored her grandchildren. Her most treasured activity was being a mom and mom-mom. Her home was always a welcoming place filled with laughter, love, and wonderful food.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 11:00-11:45 a.m.
Interment will be private with the family.
